One Flat Fee Covers Every Laptop in the Office — $29.95 per Endpoint
Secure remote support, centralised endpoint management and Bitdefender-powered antivirus on every device you enrol, for one published fee per endpoint. No monthly floor, no lock-in, and nothing hidden behind a contact form.
Three warning signs your Sydney business's security is nobody's job
We hear a version of one of these on almost every first call, from Chatswood retailers to Macquarie Park tech teams.
Antivirus, backup and access are three separate stories
One vendor for antivirus, another for backup, MFA half turned on, and a shared admin login written on a sticky note. When something goes wrong, nobody actually owns the fix.
Patching only happens after something breaks
Whoever handles IT only turns up once there is already a problem. Updates sit un-applied for months, licences auto-renew unchecked, and nobody has confirmed the backup would actually restore. It is fine, right up until it isn't.
The quote for "proper" security assumed a three-year term
The larger Sydney providers want a three-year contract, a large onboarding fee, and a ticketing system between you and an actual technician. You become an account number, and leaving is built to be painful.
What actually runs on each device
Three things, running on every endpoint you enrol, for one published fee. Here is exactly what that fee buys.
Secure Remote Support
- Attended and unattended access to every managed device
- Quick screen-sharing sessions whenever a user needs a hand
- Low-latency connections for staff working onsite or remotely
Managed Endpoint Platform
- OS and third-party patch management across Windows, macOS and Linux, scheduled and ring-based
- Policy enforcement with ongoing compliance detection
- Background diagnostics — Task Manager, Registry, Device Manager, Service Manager — that do not interrupt the user
- Proactive alerting on performance, user activity, software changes and security events
- Routine issues remediated automatically through policy-driven smart actions
- Hardware, software and system inventory reporting with compliance tracking
- AI-prioritised CVE and vulnerability insights
- An endpoint security dashboard showing real-time threat detection
- Device configuration control over Wi-Fi, proxy, firewall and screen lock settings
- Compliance reporting mapped to ISO, SOC 2 and HIPAA
- Scripts and scheduled tasks pushed out across the fleet
Bitdefender Antivirus
- Real-time, on-access file scanning
- Advanced Threat Control for heuristic detection
- Web traffic security, anti-phishing and HTTP scanning
- Ransomware protection built in
- Scanning for USB and other external devices
- Policy managed centrally from our console, not device by device
- Supported on Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019 and macOS
A few things we'd rather flag now than later
- EDR / XDR is not part of the base antivirus. If you need full behavioural telemetry and threat hunting on top, we add a priced EDR product as an add-on.
- Patch coverage is strongest on the Microsoft stack. OS updates and mainstream third-party apps are handled thoroughly; a bespoke line-of-business app may still need a manual deployment.
- Cloud backup and helpdesk hours are separate engagements. They are not folded into the $29.95/endpoint fee, and we will quote them transparently if you need them.
No form to fill out, just the number
One tier, published, with no "contact us for enterprise pricing" runaround. All figures below are ex GST.
- Remote-support coverage for every device, attended or unattended
- Centralised endpoint management for patching, policy and alerts
- Bitdefender-powered antivirus with ransomware protection built in
- Inventory, compliance and vulnerability reporting
- Month-to-month, 30 days' notice to walk away
- Starts making real sense from about five endpoints — smaller teams can still start
No hard minimum — best value from 5 endpoints. Under 5 endpoints, our ad-hoc rate at $180/hr ex GST is usually the honester fit and we'll tell you so. Not included in the endpoint fee: cloud backup, helpdesk hours, enterprise EDR/XDR add-ons, Microsoft 365 licensing, hardware, and major projects — all quoted separately.
How a Typical Engagement Runs
Two weeks, start to finish, and you will know exactly where things stand at every point in it.
Scoping call (20 minutes)
We count endpoints, review current tools, and sanity-check whether Security Essentials actually fits. If ad-hoc at $180/hr is a better deal for you, we say so — you save the subscription.
Onboarding (1–2 weeks)
We deploy the management agent to every endpoint, roll out Bitdefender policies, set up patch rings, and tune inventory and alerting to how your business actually runs.
Monthly rhythm
From there patching runs to schedule, alerts get triaged, and smart actions clear the routine remediation on their own. Each month you get a plain snapshot: what patched, what needed attention, what is still outstanding.
What you can expect, honestly
- Predictable bill. Endpoint count × $29.95 ex GST — no hidden per-user inflation, no "true-up" surprises.
- Real visibility. Inventory, patch compliance, vulnerability insights and antivirus status on one dashboard, not a black box you pay to be reassured about.
- Low ceremony, high cadence. Background diagnostics and smart actions resolve routine issues without interrupting users — most of what we do, you'll never see happen.
- No lock-in. Month-to-month, 30 days' notice and you are gone. That is the leverage that keeps us sharp.
- Add-ons priced openly. Enterprise EDR, cloud backup or a block of helpdesk hours all get quoted per line item, in writing, before anything starts.
Security Essentials vs. Ad-Hoc at $180/hr
Across a twelve-endpoint office, the subscription lands under the cost of roughly two hours of ad-hoc labour a month. One tier, published, so you can check the maths yourself.
| What you get | Ad-Hoc @ $180/hr | Security Essentials |
|---|---|---|
| Billing model | Per incident, per hour, unpredictable | Flat $29.95/endpoint/month, predictable |
| Cost on 5 endpoints | ~$180/mo per hour of work | $149.75/mo fixed (5-endpoint starting point) |
| Cost on 12 endpoints | 2 hrs/mo already = $340/mo and climbing | $359.40/mo fixed — pays for itself at ~2 hrs |
| Cost on 25 endpoints | 5 hrs/mo already = $850/mo and climbing | $748.75/mo fixed — covered |
| Antivirus | Your problem (usually bundled AV) | Bitdefender-powered, centrally policy-managed |
| Patching | Happens when it happens | OS and third-party updates, ring-based, tracked per device |
| Remote support access | Reactive, per-session tools | Management agent running on every device you enrol |
| Vulnerability & inventory visibility | None — reactive only | AI-prioritised CVE insights plus hardware and software inventory |
| Lock-in | None, but no protection either | Month-to-month, 30 days' notice to walk away |
Rule of thumb: once you hit about 5 endpoints and more than a couple of IT hours a month, the subscription delivers better value than hourly work. Below that, ad-hoc at $180/hr ex GST is probably the honest right fit — and we'll tell you that before taking the subscription.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about contracts, inclusions, and how Security Essentials compares.
How long is the contract?
Month-to-month. Exit with 30 days' written notice. Most Sydney MSPs push 24-36 month contracts; we don't. If we're not doing a great job you should be free to leave — that discipline keeps us sharp.
What does the $29.95/endpoint fee deliberately exclude?
The per-endpoint fee buys the managed endpoint stack — secure remote support, centralised endpoint management and Bitdefender-powered antivirus — running on each device you enrol. It does not buy labour hours.
- Cloud backup — separate engagement, scoped to the data set you want protected.
- Helpdesk hours — quoted separately, either as a retainer or ad-hoc at $180/hr ex GST.
- Enterprise EDR / XDR add-ons — if you need full behavioural telemetry and threat hunting above the base AV, we integrate an enterprise-grade product as a priced add-on.
- Third-party licensing — Microsoft 365, specialist software, passed through at cost or the co-term price.
- Hardware — laptops, servers, network gear. Quoted when you need them.
- Major projects — office moves, migrations, new infrastructure. Scoped and fixed-priced before work starts.
Anything outside that list is quoted in writing first. There are no invoices you did not see coming.
Is there a minimum endpoint count?
No hard minimum — the package delivers its best value from 5 endpoints up. Smaller businesses (1–4 endpoints) are welcome, but ad-hoc support at $180/hr ex GST is usually the honestly cheaper fit, and we'll say so on the scoping call.
How long does onboarding take?
Most small Sydney businesses are fully onboarded inside a fortnight:
- Week 1: Discovery, agent deployment across the fleet, Bitdefender rollout, and the first patch policy baseline set.
- Week 2: Alerting tuned to your environment, inventory reporting checked off, and your first monthly report in hand.
You'll have visibility into the endpoint console throughout — no black box.
We already have someone doing IT. Can this still work?
Yes. Security Essentials runs fine as a co-managed service. Your internal IT person keeps day-to-day ownership (hands, faces, business context); we deliver the secure remote support platform, patching, policy enforcement, antivirus and escalation support in the background.
Many of our best-fit clients run this way — the internal person isn't replaced, they're equipped with a real management console and patch/alert automation.
How is this different from enterprise EDR?
Security Essentials bundles our managed endpoint platform (patching, policy, diagnostics, alerting) with Bitdefender-powered antivirus. That's real-time scanning, heuristic detection, web traffic security, anti-phishing and ransomware protection — but it's AV, not full EDR/XDR with behaviour telemetry and threat hunting.
If you need that tier, we integrate enterprise EDR as a priced add-on. For most Sydney small businesses, managed endpoint + Bitdefender AV is the honest, right-sized baseline.
How is this different from ad-hoc IT support?
Ad-hoc is reactive and billed hourly at $180/hr — great for occasional issues, not for ongoing posture. Security Essentials is proactive: Bitdefender AV scanning continuously, patches applied on schedule, policies enforced, alerts triaged automatically.
On 12 endpoints at $29.95 that's $359.40/month fixed — the subscription pays for itself versus ad-hoc at about 2 hours of work per month. See the comparison table above.
